Dehradun. After the tough stand of the new government regarding the quality of roads in Uttarakhand, now the government has also come into action. The government has written a letter to all the district magistrates asking them to ensure quality check by doing on-site terrestrial inspection and testing of roads constructed with central assistance. In case of any irregularity found in it, instructions have also been given to the proposed government to take action against the concerned engineers and contractors.
After the change of leadership in the state, the first step was taken by the government to suspend two engineers on the basis of a video which went viral in the internet media about the poor quality of the road. After this, the Chief Minister gave instructions to ensure quality in construction of roads. In this episode, now Secretary Public Works Department RK Sudhanshu has written a letter to all district magistrates to ensure quality in construction works.
In this letter, it has been said that the Central Government has sanctioned 339.53 crore for 105 works to the Public Works Department under the Special Assistance Scheme. 25 of these works are already approved and 80 are new works. With this amount, works are being done to fill the pit of the roads, repairing the road, improving and improving the quality. Teams have also been formed for quality check from the governance level. Now on-site inspection should be ensured every day at the district level also for the work being done under the scheme.
