New Delhi. CA and CS courses will now be considered equivalent to post graduation. Apart from this, the University Grants Commission i.e. UGC is also providing other opportunities to the students who have done CA and CS. Under this, students who have done CA and CS can take the UGC NET exam. Also he will be able to do PhD. Giving official information, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India said, “Based on the representation submitted by the institute, the UGC has recognized the company secretary as equivalent to a PG degree. This decision will be beneficial for the company secretary profession worldwide. We will for this Thankful to UGC. ”
The UGC has taken this decision at the request of the Indian Chartered Accountants of India (Kauaq), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (Kaurak) and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
Giving information about this decision taken by UGC through a letter, UGC Joint Secretary Surendra Singh said, “UGC received this application from CA and company secretary as well as from Cost Accounting. In their request these Institutions had demanded CA, CS and Cost Accounting equivalent status of PG. After receiving this application, UGC constituted a special committee for this. The application has been accepted during the 550th meeting of UGC. ”
CA and CS, in their request sent to UGC in this regard, said that youths who have passed CA and CS have attained higher education. The syllabus of CA CS and ICWA students is quite wide as compared to MCom and MBA. Despite this, these students are not considered equivalent to post-graduation students, as well as these students are not considered eligible for research.
Taking a positive decision on the appeal of CA and CS institutes, UGC has now not only considered students who have completed studies from these institutes as equivalent to post graduation students, but they will also be given equal opportunities for admission to PhD. These students can also go into the field of teaching by taking the UGC NET exam.
