New Delhi. Adarsh Gaurav, the lead actor for Netflix’s The White Tiger, received a nomination in the Best Actor category at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA). The film has also received a nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. Priyanka Chopra expressed happiness over this achievement.
Priyanka tweeted this news and wrote- 2 BAFTA nominations for All Indian Star Cast is a matter of pride for Indian talent. Ideal pride is very happy for you. You are entitled to this identity and Ramin Bahrani, congratulations to you. Absolutely right. Priyanka further wrote that she is very happy to be the executive producer of this film. Come, win.
Adarsh will have to compete with Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Chadwick Bosman (Black Bottom), Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian) and Mads Mickelson (Another Round) to win the Best Actor Award. Let me tell you, before this, Adarsh Gaurav got a place in the long list of BAFTA. At the same time, Priyanka was selected for the race for nomination in Best Supporting Actress. Out of the long list, the contestants are selected for the nomination of the award. According to BAFTA, there were 122 entries in the Best Actor category, out of which 15 were shortlisted for the long list.
Apart from these two categories, The White Tiger, directed by Ramin Bahrani, was also included in the long list of Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Editing categories. Members’ voting for the nomination was held from 19 February to 1 March.
The White Tiger, which came on Netflix on January 22, is a screen adaptation of the novel by the same name of Arvind Adiga. Rajkummar Rao played the supporting role of Priyanka’s husband in the film. Mahesh Manjrekar also appeared in an important character. The film primarily depicts the reality of caste and class struggle in Indian society.
