Rishikesh. An elephant going to visit Alsubah Neelkanth Mahadev temple on Saturday under the Gauhari range of Rajaji Tiger Reserve was slain by an elephant. The deceased has not been identified. Forest department officials have increased patrolling nearby.
Seeing the Shivaratri festival in Mahakumbh, devotees have started coming to see the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple from now on. Even at night, devotees are going towards the temple. At present, elephant terror prevails in this entire area. A few days ago an elephant killed a person near Phool Chatti. On Saturday morning, an elephant was crushed to death by an elephant who came to visit the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. The incident is 100 meters ahead of the Tiger Khala Swarg Ashram.
On receiving the information, Forest Officer Dheer Singh, Inspector Pramod Uniyal, Station Incharge of Laxman Jhula has reached the spot. The deceased has not been identified yet. Forest department officials have increased patrolling around. According to the forest officer, the incident could not be traced at night. When it is bright in the morning, a person has been found dead here. The deceased is close to 55 years of age.
