Dehradun. Rescue operations are underway to reach 34 persons trapped in the tunnel of NTPC’s under-construction hydro project at Tapovan. Due to the back flow of debris, the team had to struggle hard to remove it. DGP Ashok Kumar said that six bodies have been extracted from the tunnel. They reported that the teams have reached 130 meters and are trying to speed up the process to reach the next tunnel soon. At the same time, six bodies have been found by Raini and one body from Rudraprayag. A total of 51 bodies have been recovered so far, while more than a hundred people are missing. At the same time, DM Swati Singh Bhadauria and SP Yashwant Singh are also on the spot and are taking stock of relief and rescue operations. On the other hand, cases of 29 missing people have been registered so far at Joshimath Police Station. DNA samples of 55 family members have been taken to aid identification. Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that a body was found in Rudraprayag on Sunday evening as part of a search and rescue operation by the disaster department. Which is kept in the Morchari of Rudraprayag Hospital.
Two bodies have been recovered by drilling in the tunnel of NTPC’s 520 MW Tapovan Vishnugad project in the Tapovan area of Chamoli district devastated by the floods of the Rishiganga. Indian Army prepares permanent bridge over Rishiganga connecting Raini village, movement commences
Indian Army personnel are working to provide help in disaster affected areas. Apart from this, the jawans have made a temporary bridge on Rishiganga on Sunday to connect it with Rani village.
The bridge connecting the village from both sides was covered in disaster. After which there was trouble in moving. But now with this permanent bridge prepared by the army, people are moving from the village to the other end.
The NDRF team engaged in rescue inside the tunnel recovered the first body at 4:45 am and the second at 5:50 am from the intake edit tunnel of the project. Rescue operation has been going on in this tunnel since February 7. The two persons whose bodies have been recovered from the tunnel. He was expected to be buried under the debris since the day of his incident. The rescue team is searching for missing persons inside the tunnel with the help of drone cameras.
Chamoli District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria and Police Captain Yashwant Singh Chauhan went inside the tunnel to take stock of the rescue operations. District Magistrate Swati S Bhadoria told that the rescue work inside the tunnel is going on a war footing. Other teams including NDRF are engaged in the rescue. He said that the possibility of surviving the trapped people inside the tunnel cannot be ruled out.
If a living person is found inside the tunnel, a helicopter has also been deployed in the temporary helipad built here for immediate treatment. Medical teams have also been deployed at the scene. So that if any injured is found, it can be given first aid here.
