New Delhi – 2nd February 2021 (Tuesday) – The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) in association with Indian Embassies in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden organized the “Virtual Buyer Seller Meet of Indian Handicrafts Manufacturers & Exporters with buyers of NORDIC region in Europe from 27th January to 1st February, 2021 where 158 accredited exporters from all parts of India displayed the wide range of handcrafted products at Virtual BSM, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
During virtual BSM, EPCH has received an overwhelming response, over 477 buyers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, United Kingdom, Germany, France and other countries visited the virtual BSM. Around 53 buying agencies have also visited the Buyer-Seller Meet to source the requirements on behalf of their overseas buyers, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar informed that the Buyer Seller Meet was successfully organized on a virtual platform with support of Shri Shantmanu, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, H.E. Mr. Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Sweden & Latvia, H.E. Mr. Ajit Gupte, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Denmark, H.E. Dr. B. Bala Bhaskar, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Norway, H.E. Mr. Raveesh Kumar, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Finland & Estonia also promoted and supported the Buyer-Seller meet.
Mr. Ravi K. Passi, Chairman-EPCH informed that this virtual Buyer-Seller Meet has facilitated Indian companies with matchmaking opportunities with the Nordic and European buyers interested in sourcing Handicrafts, Gifts, Furniture, Fashion, Lifestyle products thereby creating a ‘Brand Image’ of Indian Handicrafts amongst NORDIC buyers of Europe.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH said that this Virtual BSM has provided a viable marketing option to the exhibitors and buyers and will lead to a growth in Indo-NORDIC region Trade. In view of good response received, EPCH has announced similar virtual Buyer seller Meets to reach out to focus markets of West Asia, North Africa and Latin America Regions in 2021. The Handicrafts exports to Europe Union in 2019-20 was Rs 5852.65 Crores (US $ 825.51 million) and have a growth of 4.38% in crores and 2.92% in US $ dollars over previous year, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH
