Washington A spokesman for US presidential president Joe Biden has rejected President Donald Trump’s plan to remove travel restrictions from Europe and Brazil from 26 January. The outgoing president said in a proclamation that the travel restrictions imposed on the Schengen region of Europe, Britain, Ireland and Brazil would come to an end on January 26. From the same day, it will be necessary for people coming to America to get a certificate of the Kovid-19 negative test.
However, Biden’s team said it had no plans to lift these restrictions.
Biden spokesman Jane Saki tweeted, “This is not the time to remove the restrictions as the epidemic worsens and more infectious variants emerge worldwide.”
He said, in fact, we plan to strengthen public health measures with international travel to reduce the spread of Kovid-19.
Saki’s remarks come after a steady rise in confirmed coronovirus cases in the US, which is currently the most affected country.
The Center for System Science and Engineering (CSSE) of Johns Hopkins University reported in its latest update on Tuesday morning that the total number of coronaviruses in the US is 24,073,555 and resulted in 398,977 deaths.
