Rampur (Uttar Pradesh). An order has been issued by the Rampur District Administration for the acquisition of 173 acres of land attached to the Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar Trust, which is owned and operated by the family of Samajwadi Party MP Mohammad Azam Khan. Additional District Magistrate (Administration) J.P. Gupta’s court ruled on Saturday that the trust violated the state government norms while purchasing the land, forcing the sub-divisional magistrate to acquire the land.
Additional District Government Counsel (ADGC-Civil) Ajay Tiwari said, “The trust has violated the government order, in which they were allowed to purchase more than 12 acres of land only on the condition that they are given rules set by the government. Have to follow. ”
It was stated that the trust will not be able to purchase land belonging to scheduled caste / tribe category people, nor will it be able to buy land belonging to the river or its surrounding areas and village society land or ‘Chak’ road. But the trust has violated these conditions as well as the sections of Uttar Pradesh Revenue Act.
The ADGC further said, “The court had earlier issued notice and summons to Azam Khan, the chairman of the trust held in Sitapur Jail, which he refused to accept.”
In January 2020, the government was ordered by a Revenue Board court in Prayagraj to acquire about 100 bighas of land forcibly procured from 12 Dalit farmers in Rampur. The Board of Revenue found that Khan had taken the abolition of the UP Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act.
Khan is the Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Ali Jauhar University spread over 500 acres, which was established in 2006. He is also the chairman of the trust that operates it, while his wife Tanzin Fatima and both sons are members of the trust. Azam’s elder sister is the treasurer of the trust.
