new Delhi. The collective Kovid-19 vaccination campaign has started in India on Saturday. With this, the question is at the top of people’s minds how the storage and transportation of millions of vaccines happened. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently 2 vaccines in India have come under the ‘Kovishield’ of Serum Institute of India and ‘Kovacine’ of Bharat Biotech and 4 more vaccines are in the pipeline.
The good news is that Pfizer-BioNotech or Moderna vaccines have to be stored at -70 degrees, whereas these Indian vaccines only need to be stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius.
According to Renu Swaroop, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, all Indian vaccines have to be stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius and logistics has been worked out considering this as an important factor.
The government has so far purchased 1.1 crore ‘Kovishield’ and 55 lakh ‘Kovaxin’ vaccines at a price of Rs 200 and Rs 206 per dose respectively.
According to data published in The Lancet, an analysis of interim data for the last-stage trials of ‘Kovishield’ showed an average efficacy of 70.4 percent.
Covacine is a highly pure and 2 dose SARS-Cove-2 vaccine.
A 225 liter medical refrigerator used for vaccine storage can store 40 thousand to 60 thousand vials. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Ministry of Health, had told in December that 29 thousand cold chain points, 240 walk-in coolers, 70 walk-in freezers, 45 thousand ice-lined refrigerators, 41 thousand deep freezers and 300 for Kovid-19 storage. Solar solar generators will be used.
He had said, “All the necessary resources for vaccination have been delivered to the states.” Organized private cold chain storage at the same time will have the capacity to store 25-30 crore doses.
Explain that the world’s immunization campaign is the largest campaign in the world, in which more than 60 million people will be vaccinated. By the way, every year about 52 crore vaccinations in the country are done under Universal Immunization Program (UIP) and 1.32 billion vaccinations are non-UIP ones.
Associate Professor Harshal R. at Community Medicine Center, AIIMS Delhi “These experiences will help India to run the Kovid-19 vaccination program on a large scale,” says Salve.
The government will use a digital platform called Co-Win to track vaccine stocks, storage information and people receiving doses. It will also monitor conditions such as an undesired event after the vaccine.
