Kolkata. The convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda was attacked by alleged supporters of the Trinamool Congress in South 24-Parganas district of West Bengal. The BJP chief was leaving to attend a rally there on Thursday. The incident occurred near Shirakol area when Nadda was going to address a rally at Diamond Harbor Radio Station Ground today (Thursday) afternoon. Sources said that the bullet-proof vehicle that Nadda was traveling in was attacked by Trinamool Congress-backed goons.
Apart from Nadda, the vehicles of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, national vice president Mukul Roy and party leader Anupam Hazra were also attacked by alleged Trinamool supporters, who were accompanied by the party’s flag.
The windshields of the cars in Nadda’s convoy deteriorated as the miscreants violently attacked with bricks, iron rods and glass bottles.
Some central force personnel and a BJP supporter in charge of security of the convoy were injured in the attack. Some BJP workers were forcibly pulled from their cars and beaten on the way while reaching the venue.
