new Delhi. Even though the world is cheering the rapid progress made on several vaccines to protect against the Kovid-19 epidemic, scientists are still pursuing research on effective medicine for the infected. Now a team of scientists have claimed that they have found a drug that is capable of eliminating the coronavirus present in any person’s body in just 24 hours. This drug is named Molnupiravir. The pharmaceutical company Mark and Ridgebank are co-producing it. This drug is in its second / third clinical trials (clinical trials) against SARS-COV-2 infection.
Researchers at Georgia State University’s Institute for Biomedical Sciences in the US have discovered that SARS-COV-2 infection can be treated with a new anti-viral drug molnupivir. It has been claimed that this drug is so effective that the virus is completely eradicated within 24 hours.
The group, led by Professor Richard Plumper at Georgia State University, originally discovered that the drug is powerful against influenza virus.
According to the study’s author Richard Plumper, it is the first drug used to treat corona and may prove to be a game-changer in treating corona.
The researchers said, “Because this drug is normally swallowed, its benefits are also seen three times faster than others. This drug can be used depending on the patient’s symptoms.”
He said that the oral drug is performing well and that it blocks rapid SARS-COV-2 transmission.
Disrupting the widespread community transmission of Kovid-19 until mass vaccination is available is paramount for the management of Kovid-19 and reduces the catastrophic consequences of the epidemic.
Plumper said initial research found the drug to be effective in eradicating influenza-like deadly flu, after which it was researched to prevent infection with the corona virus. In the meantime, scientists first infected some animals with corona, and immediately as soon as those animals started releasing the virus from the nose, they were given the drug molnapivir.
The infected animals were placed in the same cage with the healthy animals after giving the drug molnopyravir to see if the infection was spread.
Joseph Wolf, co-author of this study, said that during research, it was found that the infection did not spread from infected animals to healthy animals. They say that if this medicine is used on infected patients, then the infection will disappear from the patient’s body in just 24 hours.
Reports state that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will soon decide on conducting human clinical trials for the drug.
