Mumbai. The country’s stock market was under heavy buying on Wednesday and the Sensex crossed the psychological level of 46,000 for the first time. The Nifty was also trading above 13,500. Both the Sensex and Nifty major sensitive indices are continuously touching new highs. The Sensex rose by over 500 points to reach 46,127, which is the all-time record level. At the same time, the Nifty rose by over 140 points to 13,538, which is a new record. The Sensex was trading up 508.46 points or 1.11 per cent at 46,114.97 from the previous session at 14.08 pm while the Nifty was up 139.10 points or 1.04 per cent at 13,532.05.
The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) -based major sensitive index Sensex opened with a gain of 282.53 points at 45,891.04 over the previous session and rose to 46,127.23 during trading while its low was 45,792.01.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty, a major sensitive index based on 50 stocks, opened 65.15 points up at 13,458.10 from the previous session and rose to 13,538.10 during trading while its low was 13,449.60.
