Lucknow . The much awaited Metro Rail gift will be available soon to the people of Agra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the virtual foundation stone of the project on December 7. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also join the program on this occasion.
According to the government’s plan, after 2 years the people of Agra will be able to ride the metro. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued special instructions to UPMRC to complete the first phase by December 2022.
The Yogi government has now started preparing for the Metro to be given to the people of Agra. In the first phase of the fixed plan, the metro will start operating from Sikandra to Taj East Gate by December 2022. The total cost (including central taxes) of Agra Metro will be Rs 8379.62 crore. In this, the Taj East Gate corridor will be constructed from Sikandra in the first phase. Firstly a primary section of 6 kilometers from Taj East to Jama Masjid will be prepared. A total of 6 metro stations will be built in this section.
In this, Taj East Gate, Basai, Fatehabad Road 3 upstream metro stations will be built. Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Jama Masjid will be underground metro stations. The second corridor will be constructed between Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar. The length of this corridor is 15.4 km. There will be a total of 14 stations under it. In the second corridor, construction of metro stations at Agra Cantt, Sadar Bazar, Collectorate, Subhash Park, Agra College, Hariparvat Charaha, Sanjay Place, MG Road, Sultanganj Crossing, Kamla Nagar, Rambagh, Foundry Nagar, Agra Mandi and Kalindi Vihar Will be done.

9.37 hectare land has been selected for the construction of Corridor-1 depot in Agra Metro Rail Project. Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, independent charge Hardeep Singh Puri will also be present on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for construction of the metro rail project.
The metro rail project will benefit more than 26 lakh population of Agra. The metro will be a great service for the nearly 60 lakh tourists coming to Agra every year. The Agra city will get a state-of-the-art and global scale Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) as part of the Agra Metro Rail Project. The corridors of Agra Metro are planned in such a way that the 4 major railway stations, bus depots, colleges, major markets and tourist destinations of the city can be connected.
UP Metro Managing Director Kumar Keshav said that the Agra Metro will provide an environment-friendly, comfortable and hassle-free means of public transport. Metro will make it easy to travel to world-famous tourist destinations like Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in Agra. Its biggest advantage will be in tourism development. Building a metro corridor in the heart of the city is a major challenge for our team within the stipulated time frame. We will provide the metro within the stipulated time limit by completing it.
