The petition has sought the Supreme Court to direct the Election Commission to postpone the Bihar elections, citing the critical situation of the coronavirus epidemic and floods.
The party in its petition has demanded the apex court to direct the Election Commission to conduct the Bihar Assembly elections in March next year. Assembly elections in Bihar are likely to be held between October and November this year.
The plea states, “For the safety of the people of India, it would be better to hold elections at some time in the month of March, 2021, when the situation in the state becomes somewhat normal, so that the citizens are not threatened by epidemics or floods.” And he can participate in it and give his vote safely. ”
The petitioner said that at present most of the countries of the world are suffering from Kovid-19 epidemic and India has become almost the center of it.
The petition states, “India is a developing country and has a large population. In view of the large population and medical facilities of our country compared to developed countries like the United States and other European countries, the decision should be taken, Because in every way there is a possibility that this epidemic will increase further. The lives of the people of India are still in danger. ”
Citing flood situation in the state, the plea said that millions of people have become homeless and their livelihoods have been affected. Therefore, in these extraordinary circumstances the government should not put any weight on the people to cast their votes.
The petitioner has stated in his plea that at a time when the epidemic is at its peak and the situation of the people due to floods in the state is pathetic, then elections should be avoided at this time.
A petition through Rajpa president and advocate Binay Kumar Das said that a report was given to the Election Commission on June 30 to postpone the Bihar assembly elections, but no decision has been taken yet.
