New Delhi: There is still a scuffle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and sacked Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan. The case has reached the High Court first and now the Supreme Court against the rebel MLAs of Congress, including Sachin Pilot. At the same time, CM Ashok Gehlot has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) on Wednesday. He wrote on Twitter with the letter, “I would like to draw your attention to the malicious efforts being made to topple elected governments in the states through horse trading as opposed to democratic norms.” The period of political crisis in Rajasthan is still going on.
So far in Rajasthan political turmoil:
Significantly, when the Congress government was formed in Rajasthan in December 2018, Ashok Gehlot was made the Chief Minister of the state and Sachin Pilot as the Deputy Chief Minister. Since then, the relationship between Gehlot and his ‘deputy’ was growing sour.
Pilot believed that as the President of Rajasthan Congress, he had contributed significantly in forming the government in the state and he was entitled to lead the government. The tussle between the two camps became public when Sachin Pilot and about 30 MLAs in his camp blew up a rebellion against Gehlot.
The pilot reached Delhi with the demand that he be promoted as CM and sacked CM Ashok Gehlot. He claimed to have the support of 30 MLAs with him. The Congress, taking strict action on this, dismissed Pilot as Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress Chief. Not only this, his supporters, two ministers of the state government were also removed.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, he has accused of conspiring to topple his government. In a letter to the PM, CM Gehlot has written that desperate efforts are being made to bring down elected governments in the states through horse trading contrary to democratic norms.
At the same time, the Supreme Court will hear (Thursday) on the petition of Assembly Speaker CP Joshi challenging the High Court’s order to stop the disqualification proceedings till July 24 against the 19 Congress MLAs including the sacked Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot of Rajasthan. Rajasthan Speaker CP Joshi said in his petition that the judiciary was never expected to interfere in such matters, which would lead to constitutional deadlock.
The High Court had said on Tuesday that it would pass the appropriate order on July 24 on the petition of Pilot and 18 other MLAs. The petition has challenged the disqualification notice sent to the MLAs by the Speaker. The court asked the chairman to postpone the disqualification proceedings till July 24.
At the same time, while attacking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government on the raids of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the farm house and other premises of Agrasen Gehlot, brother of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the Congress on Wednesday said that the people of Rajasthan are afraid of their “redraj” This is not the case and such action will not deter the Congress government of the state.
Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told reporters here, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, you have created” Redraj “in this country. Rajasthan is not afraid of this” Redraj “. Eight million people of Rajasthan with your” Redraj ” Not to panic. ”
The Pilot camp argues that the whip of the party applies only when the assembly session is in progress. The Congress, in its complaint to the Speaker, has sought action against paragraphs 2 (1) (a) of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution against Pilot and other dissident legislators.
It is worth mentioning that the Congress has complained to the Speaker for disqualifying the MLA from Rajasthan Assembly membership for disobeying the party whip. On this complaint, the Speaker issued notices to the rebel MLAs.
