Hyderabad: Oscar winner AR Rahman was recently admitted to the hospital due to dehydration and neck pain. After some tests and treatment, he has now been discharged from the hospital and his son gave his health update and said that he is fine now. Amidst all this, a statement of Rahman’s wife has come out which is attracting everyone’s attention. She has given this statement through a voice note which has been shared by his lawyer Vandana Shah on social media.
Don’t call me ex-wife – Saira Banu
Music composer AR Rahman’s estranged wife Saira Banu has issued a statement through a voice note and clarified that she has separated from Rahman, but they are not divorced. She requested that she should not be called Rahman’s ex-wife. Saira suggested that their separation was due to her health issues. She prayed for Rahman’s speedy recovery. Also requested his family not to worry too much. She said in a statement, ‘Assalamu Aleikum, I am Saira Rehman, I wish him a speedy recovery. I have just received news that he has chest pain and has undergone angio. With God’s blessings, he is fine now and there is nothing to worry about’.
Saira said – we have not officially divorced
Saira said in her statement, ‘I also want to tell everyone that we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife. It is just that we have separated due to my health problems. For the last two years, I am not well, and I did not want to stress him. But I would request the media not to call me ‘ex-wife’ because we have only separated, but all my best wishes are still with him. I also want to tell everyone, especially his family, not to give him any kind of stress and take care of him. Thank you’.
Let us tell you that Rehman and Saira got married in 1995. However, in November 2024, the musician and wife announced their separation. Saira’s lawyer Vandana Shah had released an official statement about the couple’s decision to separate. The statement said, ‘After many years of marriage, Saira has taken the difficult decision to separate from her husband AR Rahman’. The two are parents to three children – Khatija, Rahima and Amin.
