Accused Suhail, who was sent to jail on November 24 for firing on police personnel and setting vehicles on fire during the violence against the survey of Jama Masjid, disappeared from the city on the day of the violence. Then he spent 64 days with different relatives to escape from the police, thinking that now everything has calmed down. But, as soon as he came to the city, the police caught him. So far 73 accused have been sent to jail in this case.
He was hiding with relatives
In-charge Inspector of Nakhasa police station Gajendra Singh said that Suhail son of Chhote alias Masood Hussain, a resident of Anjuman Madrasa located near Khaggu Sarai in Mohalla Deepa Sarai, has been arrested from Hasnupur road. He was hiding with his relatives.
According to the police, Suhail works as a truck repairman. When the violence happened on November 24, he reached Nakhasa intersection with some people and started pelting stones and firing at the police personnel guarding the Jama Masjid.
Secrets revealed during interrogation
Suhail told during interrogation that during the survey of Jama Masjid, a crowd had gathered at Jama Masjid and there was an incident of arson and riot. On hearing the news of this, he also came to Anjuman Square and Shahbaz alias Tillan son of Ikram resident Deepasrai, Subahan alias Munna son of Abdul, Jabbar resident Samman Shaheed Hindupura Kheda and many people were gathered there.
Suhaan and Tillan told everyone that it is a matter of our religion. We all have to fight together and from there we all gathered and reached Hindupura Kheda and Nakhasa Tiraha and we started firing and pelting stones at the policemen with the intention of killing them.
Police vehicles were set on fire. Some people from the crowd also snatched the magazines and cartridges of the policemen. The police has also started collecting the names and addresses of those who did this. It is being speculated that inputs of some people were also received from Suhail. The Inspector in-charge said that Tillan, Subhan and Jabbar have already gone to jail.
