A woman who killed her own husband in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, along with her brother-in-law, has been arrested from Bageshwar Dham Ashram in Chhatarpur. For the last six months, the brother-in-law and sister-in-law were hiding in this ashram and living as sevadars and were absconding. Based on solid inputs, the police reached the ashram and took both of them into custody. After interrogating these accused, Kanpur police has revealed this incident. The case is of Khersha village of Bidhanu in Kanpur.
According to the police, Dinesh Awasthi, originally from Lakhimpur, lived with his wife in Khersha village after a love marriage a year ago. His younger brother Manoj also lived with Dinesh. Since Dinesh used to leave home for work every day during the day and returned late at night. Meanwhile, Poonam and Manoj used to stay at home. In such a situation, an illicit relationship gradually developed between these two. On knowing this, Poonam and Dinesh started having fights every day. Many times, both the brothers also fought over this matter.
The incident is of 24th April
Due to these fights, Manoj and Poonam’s love started getting hindered. In such a situation, both of them decided to remove Dinesh from the way. In this sequence, Poonam beat her husband with sticks on the night of 24th April. Meanwhile, Manoj stabbed him to death. After this, the accused tied his hands and legs and threw him in a pond near the village and fled. Here, two days after the incident, when the body started floating on the water, people got the news. After this, the police took the body in custody and started investigating the case.
Caught from the location of the phone
During this time, on the basis of suspicion, the police put the mobile phones of the deceased’s wife and brother-in-law on surveillance. Two days ago, the police came to know from the mobile location that both of them were present in Bageshwar Dham Ashram. After this, the police reached the spot and took both of them into custody. The accused told the police that since the day of the incident, these people had kept their phones switched off and came to Chhatarpur via Lakhimpur and Sitapur. They thought that the matter has cooled down now. As soon as they switched on their phones, the police got their location. Both of them have confessed to the crime during police interrogation.
