New Delhi. Khalid Mahmud resigned from the post of director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday. BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed this. Before former Bangladesh captain Mahmud, Jalal Yunus and Nayyar Rahman had also resigned from the BCB board of directors. At the same time, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam has already been removed from the post of board director.
It could not be revealed why Khalid Mahmud took this step before the Test series against India. Mahmud informed the board about his resignation through an email. With this, his 11-year journey as BCB director came to an end. Mahmud was the sports development chairman and vice-president of cricket operations of BCB in the last days of his tenure. Mahmud has played many important roles in BCB for the last 18 years.
Retired from cricket in 2006
It is worth noting that in the year 2006, Mahmud announced his retirement from international cricket. A few months later, Mahmud became the team manager of Bangladesh. Three years later, he was appointed assistant coach. After this, in the year 2013, he became the director of the board. He became the cricket manager of Bangladesh in 2015. In 2016, he also became a selector when the selection committee was expanded by the then BCB chief Nazmul Hasan.

Let us tell you that Mahmud has played 12 Tests and 77 ODIs for Bangladesh. He was also the Player of the Match in Bangladesh’s historic victory against Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup. He has also captained Bangladesh in nine Tests and 15 ODIs. However, his team never won any match under his leadership.
