Lucknow. 515 madrasas recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council will be closed. After the state government’s strictness on the frauds happening in unrecognized madrasas, the operators of these recognized madrasas have given up. The related proposal was approved in the meeting of Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council held on Tuesday. Now the Registrar of Madrasa Education Council has been authorized to find out the reasons for surrendering the recognition and complete the process. Many more important proposals have been approved in the meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Council President Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Javed in the auditorium of Minority Welfare Directorate located in Indira Bhawan.
In Uttar Pradesh, 16513 madrasas are being run which are recognized by the Madrasa Education Council. Apart from this, 8449 madrasas were being run without recognition in Uttar Pradesh. The government had ordered to close these madrasas and give admission to the children in nearby primary schools.
Representatives of Muslim organizations had also met the Chief Minister to register their objection against this order. Now the Registrar has been authorized to take further action along with investigating the reasons behind the proposal to surrender 513 madrasas recognized by the Madrasa Board.
The budget that these madrasas were getting from the central government for modernization stopped after the year 2021.
