South Africa won the Test series by defeating West Indies by 40 runs in the second Test played in Georgetown on Saturday. With this win, South Africa made a record of winning the 10th consecutive Test series against West Indies. South Africa batted first and scored 160 and 246 runs, while the West Indies team could only score 144 and 222 runs, due to which it had to face defeat.
In this match, South African spinner Keshav Maharaj gave a historic performance. He made a record of becoming South Africa’s most successful spinner by taking 6 wickets in this Test. Maharaj took a wicket in the last over of the match and gave his team a 40-run win and also won the title of ‘Player of the Series’.
Keshav Maharaj created history
With this match, Keshav Maharaj broke Hugh Tayfield’s record. Maharaj took 171 wickets in 52 matches in his Test career. He made his Test cricket debut against Australia in 2016 and has made significant contributions with his bowling so far. Keshav Maharaj has now become the highest wicket-taking spinner for South Africa.

Keshav Maharaj also performed well in the Caribbean tour before the Test played in Guyana. He put the West Indies batting in trouble by taking two wickets in the first innings. He also bowled brilliantly in the second innings and took three important wickets including the last wicket, which decided the result of the match.
South Africa achieved a better position in the World Test Championship
With this win, South Africa has reached the fifth position in the World Test Championship points table, while the West Indies team remains in ninth place and has got only one win in the tournament so far.
