A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here in Fattepur village of Gola police station area, a drug addict son attacked his parents with the handle of a hand pump on their heads while they were sleeping on Sunday night. Both died in this attack. After committing the crime the accused absconded. Police have sent both the bodies for post-mortem. SP South Jitendra Kumar reached the spot and inspected the spot and recorded the statements of the family members.
Rajpati (75 years) of Scheduled Settlement of Fattepur village slept with his wife Murati Devi (73 years) in the verandah of the house. The women and children of the house slept on the terrace due to the heat. Of Rajpati’s three sons, the eldest two, Ramashish and Shankar, live in Mumbai. Shankar had come from Mumbai a week ago and on Sunday he went to a wedding procession from the village next to his house.
Elderly parents were sleeping
At around 1 o’clock in the night, younger son Devanand came from somewhere and took out the handle of the hand pump of the house. First of all he attacked his mother’s head with the same handle. He died on the spot. After that he attacked his father on the head. He was seriously injured and started suffering. After that he absconded. Hearing the sound, the women of the house came down and the injured father was taken to a private hospital in Badhalganj, where the doctors declared him dead.
The accused is a drug addict
Local people told that the accused Devanand is a drug addict. Along with alcohol, he also consumes ganja, bhang etc. Due to his drug addiction, his wife lives at her parents’ home with his two sons and a daughter. His parents used to stop him from taking drugs, which often resulted in disputes. He felt that his wife and children had been instigated by his parents. In this regard, SP South Jitendra Kumar said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The accused is absconding.
