Meerut: A 22-feet high kanwar collided with a high-tension line at Rali Chauhan in Bhavnapur, resulting in electrocution of 20 kanwariyas in the tractor trolley. Family members took all of them to the hospital in critical condition, four kanwariyas died on the way. In critical condition, 16 kanwariyas were admitted to various hospitals. After the accident, the villagers ransacked the Bhavnapur-Meerut road by blocking it. The windshield of Kithore MLA’s car was also broken. Indecency was also committed with the police who arrived very late.
A group had gone to Haridwar by tractor trolley carrying a 22 feet big kanwar from Rali Chauhan village. Had returned from there only on Saturday morning after taking water. The light was on in the kanwar, so all the kanwariyas made the kanwar stand at a farm house in Incholi.

Around eight o’clock in the night, all the Kanwariyas were going to perform Jalabhishek in the temple of Rali Chauhan village. On one side of the road, on the outer side of the village, a brick was laid. In order to save the said bricks, the tractor trolley was being pulled out from the other side. Then the DJ of Kanwar collided with the high tension line. After that about 20 kanwarias got scorched.
People started running to the hospital with the injured
Immediately there was chaos in the whole village. Everyone picked up their family members on the bike and took them to the hospital. Five kanwariyas were brought to Anand Hospital, where four were declared brought dead by the doctors. After that some Kanwariyas have also been admitted in Vedanta and IIMT. DM and SSP have also reached Anand Hospital at night. Scorched Kanwariyas are being treated on priority.
The villagers also broke the MLA’s car
On the other hand, angry villagers started vandalizing the village outside by blocking it. The windshield of Kithore MLA Shahid Manzoor’s car was also broken. After that, indecency was also committed with the police. CO Sadar Dehat Devesh Kumar handled the matter. The villagers were pacified and assured of treatment.
