Ahmedabad. Team India captain Rohit Sharma lauded the performance of his players after taking an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series against West Indies here on Wednesday and confirmed Shikhar Dhawan’s play in the next match. On getting Rishabh Pant to open the innings, Rohit said, ‘I was told to do something different, so it was different. People will be happy to see Rishabh opening the innings but yes, it is not permanent. We will have Shikhar Dhawan in the next match.
On the performance of the team, Rohit said, “The entire unit performed in unison. It is important for these players to bat in such conditions. Only then can you recognize them. Today’s innings will boost Suryakumar’s confidence. It was not easy to bat on the pitch. He batted and did whatever the team wanted. So did Rahul and finally Deepak Hooda too. Lucky there was no dew. I am not taking away his credit from the bowlers, especially the famous Krishna. Full credit goes to the bowlers.
We kept on losing wickets: Pooran
In this match due to the injury of Kieron Pollard, the captain of the West Indies team, Nicholas Pooran said, ‘We could not build partnerships and kept losing wickets continuously. The amount of cricket we play together, hopefully we will become better batsmen.
Was expecting such performance for a long time: Pramukh Krishna
Man-of-the-match fast bowler: Prashant Krishna said, “Was expecting such a performance for a long time, but happy that it happened today and we won the match.” I was just trying to bowl in the right areas. I wanted to bowl tighter so that the ball would do its job. This right-arm fast bowler took 4 wickets for 12 runs in 9 overs.
