Australia and England will play an exciting match in the second Test starting on Thursday, as Australia will have a chance to take a 2-0 lead while England will look to make a comeback in the Test series. Josh Hazlewood was injured during the first Test match played at the Gabba in Brisbane.
“Josh Hazlewood returned to Sydney yesterday afternoon for further assessment and rehabilitation to make a decision on his fitness for the Boxing Day Test,” Cricket Australia said in a statement. Australia will take to Adelaide this morning to practice with a 14-man squad that includes pacers Michael Neser and Jhye Richardson and leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson.
Cricket Australia has also clarified in its statement that the selectors will select a team for the Melbourne and Sydney Tests after the Adelaide match. Till now the team was selected for only two Test matches. Former captain and wicket-keeper batsman Tim Paine is believed to be returning, who stepped down from the captaincy over a sexting controversy and took an indefinite break from cricket. However, there is still doubt on where the fifth Test match of the Ashes series will be played.
