Noida. It will be mandatory to install CCTV cameras at all medical stores in Gautam Budh Nagar district. This decision has been taken to prevent misuse of drugs used in the treatment of various diseases. Soon the district administration will issue guidelines in this regard. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has given these instructions in view of the trend of drug addiction among children.
The government has informed the district administration to implement this system. From time to time the officers of the Drugs Department and Child Welfare Department will inspect the CCTV footage. Action will be taken if CCTV cameras are not found in drug stores. In view of the increasing trend of drug addiction among children, the medical store operators have also been directed not to give any medicine to any minor without a doctor’s prescription.
The Drugs Department may give one month time to install CCTV. However, no instructions have been issued on this yet. Drug Inspector Vaibhav Babbar said that information has been received about this. This system will be implemented after the instructions of the District Magistrate. All medical store operators will be informed about this. Installation of CCTV cameras will be mandatory.
Drugs related to narcotics not given without a prescription
Medicines related to narcotics are not given without a doctor’s prescription. At the same time, there are many other medicines for which a prescription is necessary. Many pain relievers, cough syrups, sleeping pills are being used by teens for drug addiction. This decision has been taken to prevent this. Many medical stores give these medicines even without a prescription, to prevent which it has been made mandatory to install CCTV cameras. CCTV cameras will have to be installed inside and outside the shop. From this it can be known whether the drug taker came with a prescription or without taking it. What medicine was given to him? The drug taker is a minor or an adult.
2200 drug retailer and wholesaler
There are 2200 retailers and wholesalers of medicines in Gautam Budh Nagar district. CCTV cameras are already installed in more than 80 percent of the drug stores in Noida, but only 20 percent of the shops in the countryside have CCTVs. In such a situation, there may be a problem in installing CCTV cameras in all the shops. There are small shops in rural areas, where shopkeepers can hesitate to install it. In such a situation, the Department of Medicine will have to make arrangements for regular inspection.
