Varanasi. Along with religion, culture and spirituality, literature has also been the city of Kashi. But leave aside the protection of the heritage, there are situations of avoiding action against the thieves too. Late in the night, even after Munshi ji’s fan was stolen from Lamhi, the police remained calm till noon. Seeing no action in this matter, there is a doubt among the local people as well.
Poor- All six fans were stolen late Sunday night from the residence of the great novelist Munshi Premchand, who bore the voice of Gurba with his pen. Information about this came on Monday morning when Suresh Chandra Dubey, who supervises the Munshi Premchand memorial, arrived to do the cleaning. As soon as the lock of the house was opened, he saw some punches falling on the ground. When the eyes went towards the fan, they were speechless. The fans who went to other rooms were also missing.
Along with giving information to the people nearby, he dialed 112 and informed the police on the phone. Police personnel arrived at this, but inspected the opportunity and went back. Written notice of the entire case has also been given at the Lalpur police post. It is believed that the thieves climbed towards the wall of the well and entered Munshi ji’s courtyard. If the thieves found nothing in the empty house, then all the fans were opened. The fans were commissioned by the Department of Culture last year.
The story of Munshi Premchand’s recollection of memories is not new. In the year 2005, on 125th birth anniversary of Munshi, the government opened the bag, then the house and memorial were renovated and decorated. The Development Authority took up this responsibility, but no one was able to understand this special literary legacy after that. The culture department responsible for saving such heritage also showed activeness only on Premchand Jayanti. Regardless of the extent of who is the heir of this literary heritage, no one knows till now. In such a situation there is no maintenance. Local resident Suresh Dubey takes over this responsibility due to literary interest.
Three years ago, the electricity department had changed the lights
In fact, exactly two days before the birth anniversary three years ago, when the electricity department turned down the connection of Munshiji’s residence and memorial as illegal, the search for the heir’s department started. On this, the VDA, Culture Department and even the village society raised their hands. On examination of the papers, it was found that the house is still registered in the population. Last year, the Department of Culture claimed to increase the file to take the memorial under its control, but the result has not been revealed yet. In connection with the incident, Yashwant Singh Rathore, head of the Regional Cultural Center, was called and messaged several times but did not receive a reply.
