Rudraprayag There is a plan to ban the operation of vehicles for a month on the Kedarnath National Highway near Rudraprayag. This decision has been taken for the road cutting work under the Allweather Road Project. During this time, vehicles will be sent to Gaurikund, the main stop of Kedarnath Dham, by alternate route. With this, vehicles will have to travel an additional distance of 15 kilometers. There is already a ban on movement between Rishikesh and Devprayag till 31 March at Totaghati. Road cutting work is going on here too.
These days, the work of widening of Badrinath and Kedarnath National Highway is going on at various places under Allweather Road Project. It is the effort of the government that all these construction works be completed before the start of Char Dham Yatra. It is worth mentioning that the valleys of Gangotri and Yamunotri are to be opened on May 14, Kedarnath’s 17 and Badrinath’s cap on May 18. Under this, road cutting work is to be done at a place called Nell, four kilometers from Rudraprayag.
Jitendra Tripathi, Executive Engineer, National Highway Section (Gaurikund) said that road cutting remains a challenge due to hard rock near Nell. Due to traffic on the route, cutting work is not possible during the day. That is why the administration has been requested to stop the traffic. An agreement has also been reached with the police and the Rudraprayag district administration for this. The date will be announced soon.
He said that there are two months left for the journey to begin. Road cutting work will be completed within the stipulated time. On the other hand, the District Magistrate Manuj Goyal said that a proposal to this effect has been received from the National Highway section (Gaurikund), a decision will be taken soon.
