Amravati National President and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu called Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded the government to remove the ‘fear of uncertainty’ hovering over Eluru. Many people have been exposed to mysterious disease. Naidu has demanded that Chief Minister Reddy should disclose the results of the tests conducted so far to reveal the causes of the disease at the West Godavari district headquarters.
A statement from Naidu said, “There are apprehensions about the presence of heavy metals like lead and nickel in drinking water. The government should immediately address these concerns and take measures for mobile mineral water plants and similar measures.” Ensure proper drinking water supply.
He said that the presence of heavy metals has serious effects on the health of pregnant women, children and older people.
He added, “Therefore, every resident of the town should be given electronic health cards. Every patient should be monitored on a long-term basis. The best medical care should be provided with the help of national and international medical experts.”
Naidu demanded a scientific study to find out the mysterious disease spread in Eluru to find out the root cause.
The TDP supremo said, “Clean drinking water is the right of every citizen and it is the duty of the government to provide it. The Supreme Court considered the right to water as a fundamental right. Article 21 of the constitution also ensures that.”
He claimed that the Andhra government had unfortunately failed to ensure protected drinking water and proper sanitation.
Naidu has demanded that drinking water samples be tested periodically, along with a special campaign on safe drinking water supply to prevent incidents like Eluru.
