Lucknow: Cabinet Minister Kamla Rani Varun died on Sunday due to Corona infection in Uttar Pradesh government. The infection was confirmed on 18 July. He was undergoing treatment at PGI, Lucknow. In 2017, BJP fielded him from Ghatampur seat in Kanpur. She was the first MLA of the party to win this seat. He was made a cabinet minister in 2019. She was the Minister of Technical Education in the government.
Kamalrani Varun, born on 3 May 1958 in Lucknow, was married to a committed volunteer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the administrative officer at LIC. MA in Sociology Kamalrani was given the ticket of Kanpur councilor by the BJP from Dwarikapuri ward of the city in 1989. Kamalrani, who reached the municipal corporation after winning the election, was re-elected councilor from the same ward in 1995. In 1996, BJP fielded him from Ghatampur (reserved) parliamentary seat. Kamlerani, who reached the Lok Sabha after winning, also won again from the same seat in 1998. In the 1999 Lok Sabha elections, he was defeated by BSP candidate Pyarelal Sankhwar by a margin of 585 votes. While a Member of Parliament, Kamalrani worked on the Parliamentary Advisory Committees of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, Industry, Women Empowerment, Official Language and Tourism.
In 2012, the party fielded her by giving her ticket from Rasulabad (Kanpur Dehat) but she could not win. In 2015, after the husband’s death in 2015, she reached the assembly by electing BJP’s first MLA from Ghatampur seat.
