New Delhi / Chandigarh Commonwealth Games gold medalist women wrestler Babita Phogat and 2014 Asian Games gold medalist women Kabaddi player Kavita Devi have been appointed deputy directors in the sports department by the Haryana government. The Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Government of Haryana made these appointments by taking out two separate orders under the Haryana Sportspersons (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules-2018.
Babita tweeted and thanked Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and State Sports Minister Sandeep Singh.
Babita won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi. She then went on to win a gold medal at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Wrestling Championships.
Babita entered politics in 2019 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. She also contested the assembly elections from Dadri. She, however, lost the election and finished third.
