Lucknow. The decision to introduce police commissioner system in Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar has proved successful in terms of crime control. The traffic system has also improved. On completion of six months of this system, the police commissioner of both metros has prepared their report. After this report, the expectations of the police commissioner system being implemented in other metros including Kanpur city and Varanasi have also increased. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar says that the implementation of Police Commissioner System in Lucknow and Gautam Budh Nagar has yielded good results. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had decided to implement the Police Commissioner System in Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar on 13 January. The figures of these two cities themselves support the expansion of this system. In Lucknow, robbery, murder, dacoity and other such crimes have registered a decrease of 45.09 per cent in the total crime in the last six months compared to the previous year. It has been claimed that there was a reduction of 75 percent in robbery, 55.5 percent in robbery, 34.37 percent in murder, 55.47 percent in vehicle theft, 38.49 percent in kidnapping and 33.33 percent in rape. Great relief has been found in the chain and purse robbery incidents. In the year 2019, where the recovery percentage in these incidents was 19.22 percent, it has increased to 87.93 percent this year.
80 percent success has been achieved in the action to catch the wanted criminals of murder, robbery and dacoity, which was 16 percent in the year 2019. The biggest change is seen in the cases of the Women’s Crime and Poxo (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act. There has been a decrease of 43.02 per cent in crime against women and 32.24 per cent in cases of Poxo Act. In the case of crime against women, 1541 cases were registered between one Janwari and 12 July in the year 2019, while 878 cases have been registered this year. Similarly, 140 cases were registered in the Poxo Act in the year 2019 and 95 cases this year.
According to the report, in the matter of clamping down on the mafia, there have been meaningful results of this system. In Lucknow, the mafia has assets worth Rs 4.43 crore, while the campaign in Gautam Budh Nagar has attached properties worth about 13 crore, including the infamous Sundar Bhati, from the crime.
