new Delhi. To hurt China on the economic front, churn has begun within the government to ban the import of Chinese goods. Before taking a decision, opinions of industrial organizations and other manufacturing associations and exporters have been sought. He is being asked how comfortable he will be in the event of a ban on imports from China. In particular, preparation of alternatives is being asked. It is clear that after some restrictions on telecom and Chinese apps, now preparations are being made to tighten imports.
The government has already demanded a list of goods imported from China from industrial organizations and the Export Promotion Council. So that it can be ascertained which items we can easily manufacture in India easily and there is no harm to Indian manufacturers by banning those items. As an alternative, it can also be seen that from where and where, instead of China, important goods and especially raw materials can be imported.
According to sources, the government is also taking opinions from the industrial world regarding the option of Chinese goods and replacing it with Indian manufacturing. Currently, due to the physical checking of goods coming from China, domestic manufacturers have started voicing the supply chain due to delay in getting them out of the port.
The government is also aware that there are many sectors like medicine, auto parts, mobile and other electronics, chemicals where production of finished goods is not possible due to lack of raw material supply from China. India relies on China for 90 per cent of pharmaceutical manufacturing raw materials (API). India’s dependence on 70 percent of mobile phones is on China. There are many raw materials coming from China for preparing auto parts without which the parts cannot be prepared. There are many cosmetic products that depend entirely on the raw materials of China. According to the exporters, due to the availability of raw materials at a cheaper price from China, their cost is low and they are able to compete in the international market.
According to Sandeep Aggarwal, chairman of the PHD Chamber’s Telecom Committee, the government will have to take bold decisions even if we have to buy expensive items for a few days. Trial orders should be introduced to Indian companies in all areas and there should be no condition for penalty on Indian companies for shortages or delays. Such a decision will help Indian companies to compete with China in the telecom sector.
