Thiruvananthapuram. The United Nations celebrated Public Service Day on Tuesday and during this time the Indian state of Kerala was included in the Jin-Jin awarded to combat the Kovid-19 epidemic. The event was held on a virtual platform, which included UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and other top UN dignitaries, who praised all leaders for effectively dealing with Kovid-19, including state Health Minister K.K. K. Shailaja was involved.
Speaking on the occasion, Shailaja said that the experience of dealing with Nipah virus and two floods (2018 and 2019) helped in timely control of Kovid-19.
He said, “Kerala has followed the WHO route ever since the cases of Kovid started coming to Wuhan and we followed all standard operating protocols and international regulations and thus we were able to increase the contact expansion rate to 12.5 percent and mortality rate. Managed to maintain below 0.6 percent. “
