Mumbai | A web series will be made on the book ‘The Barabanki Nacourse: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel’ written by former police officer Alok Lal. The story is based on the 1984 Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, and it illustrates how Alok Lal busts opium in the region. The scripting of this web series is in progress.
Lal told, “I am very happy about it. The whole idea of turning the real story into a book was to let people know what really happened. We know how powerful the medium of films and web series is. Through this show, the common people will be able to know about the ground reality of drugs, its dangers and how the police department is handling the issue in that area. ”
When Lal was 30 years old, he was posted as Chief of Police in Barabanki.
Producer Prabhleen Kaur said, “It was a story around 1984. When Alok Lal arrived in Barabanki. It contains the story of the poppy supply racket.”
Kaur continued, “We have received the full help of Alok sir in research and explanation, the authors are working closely under his guidance.”
