In Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, a second year MSC Biotech student of Purvanchal University committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan with the help of a dupatta in the hostel room. After the death of the daughter, there is an uproar among the family members. After the incident, the police took the body in custody and sent it for post-mortem. The girl’s marriage was fixed in November.
In fact, Shivangi Mishra, daughter of Subhash Mishra, a resident of Kotwalpur village of Jalalpur police station area, was studying MSC Biotech second year in Purvanchal University. She lived in room number-35 of Rani Laxmibai hostel. Shivangi took admission in the university in the year 2023.
Talked to fiancé for 36 minutes
According to the students living in the hostel, Shivangi was looking a bit tense for the last three-four days. Before committing suicide, Shivangi talked to her fiancé on the phone for 36 minutes. During the conversation, there was a rift between the two over something. Shivangi was talking in a loud voice while talking to her fiancé.
Other students living in the hostel told that after some time Shivangi suddenly became quiet. They thought she must have talked on the phone. When the students called her several times, she did not respond, nor did the door open. When her phone was switched off, the warden was informed, after which with the help of classmates, the door was broken and when looked inside, Shivangi was found hanging from the fan with the help of a dupatta, after which she was taken to the district hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
From the loud conversation with her fiancé, it is being speculated that Shivangi, depressed about something said by her fiancé, switched off the phone and hanged herself by tying a dupatta to the fan in the hostel room. However, since the incident, the fiancé’s phone is said to be switched off. The police is investigating the case from all angles.
Engagement was done in February, marriage was to happen in November
The deceased student Shivangi’s marriage was fixed with a boy in Martinganj area of Azamgarh district. Both of them were also engaged in February. The marriage was to take place on 24 November. Both of them used to talk on the phone. By then Shivangi’s MSC studies would also have been completed. However, she embraced death before that.
Shivangi was from an educated family
Shivangi, who committed suicide by hanging herself in the girls hostel of Purvanchal University, was of a cheerful nature. She was from an educated family. Her father lives in Mumbai, while her mother Anita is a teacher in a primary school in Jaunpur. Shivangi’s only brother is Shivam. After their daughter’s suicide, the family is in a bad state, crying.
She had gone home for Holi vacation
Shivangi had last gone to her home for Holi vacation. After spending Holi at home, she came to the university four days ago. Late on Tuesday night, she suddenly committed suicide by hanging herself by tying her dupatta to the fan. CO Sadar Parmanand Kushwaha said that during a conversation with her fiancé, there was a rift over something, due to which the student committed suicide in depression. The body has been sent for post-mortem and other necessary action is being taken.
