Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday took a dip in the Sangam and praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the ‘excellent’ arrangements at the Maha Kumbh. Speaking to reporters, he said the world would be surprised to know that the number of people who have visited the Maha Kumbh is almost equal to the population of the United States.
“This is historic…till date, so many people have not come together anywhere on earth. The arrangements and work done by the administration are excellent,” he said. “There was a tragic accident, but look at how efficiently everything was handled,” he said.
Dhankhar said Adityanath should be praised for the historic event and highlighted that over one lakh toilets have been built for the Maha Kumbh and visitors are getting high-quality food.
“When I took the dip, it was the happiest moment of my life. I realised there is no country like India in the world,” Dhankhar said. Yogi ji has shown that if you have dedication, ability, knowledge of culture and a spirit of service to the nation, miraculous work can be done.”
Vice President takes dip in Sangam, offers prayers
He also offered prayers at the Maha Kumbh and called the event a blessing, the Uttar Pradesh government said in a statement. Dhankhar arrived in Prayagraj by helicopter along with his wife and family members and was welcomed by Adityanath.
He then proceeded towards Arail Ghat, from where he boarded a cruise boat to take a dip in the Triveni Sangam. He also fed some birds during the ride.
Amid the echo of Swasti recitation, Dhankhar took a dip with a Shivling on his head. Vrindavan’s chief priest Pundarik Goswami performed the puja, while other priests chanted mantras. After the holy bath, Dhankhar along with his family offered prayers at Saraswati Koop, Akshay Vat and Bade Hanuman Mandir.
Not a festival, but an ocean of faith: Dhankhar
Dhankhar tweeted on social site X that he is feeling spiritual bliss by bathing in the ‘greatest human gathering in history – Maha Kumbh 2025’ organized at the sacred Triveni Sangam of love-formula Maa Ganga, devotion-formula Maa Yamuna and knowledge-formula Maa Saraswati.
This Sangam bath, which was completed with the holy chants of Anant Shri Vibhushit Sriman Madhva Gaudeshwar Vaishnavacharya Dr. Pundarik Goswami, was filled with the divine experience of Sanatan culture, social harmony and faith.
He said that Maha Kumbh is not just a festival, but an ocean of faith, which is a living symbol of India’s Sanatan culture and spiritual consciousness. Kumbh is a human gathering of a unique dimension inspired by the ethos, sublimity, spirituality and simplicity of Sanatan of our civilization.
