Hyderabad: The Madras High Court has given a big decision in the copyright case between South superstar Dhanush and actress Nayanthara. Actually, the court has rejected the petition of Netflix India in which a demand was made to cancel Dhanush’s copyright case. This matter is related to Nayanthara’s documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’. In this, Nayanthara had to get into legal trouble due to taking a 3-second clip of Dhanush’s film. But now the court has given the verdict in favor of Dhanush.
Court rejected Netflix’s petition
Let us tell you that Netflix India had demanded the cancellation of Dhanush’s copyright case against Nayanthara, which has been rejected by the Madras High Court. Actually, Dhanush had warned at that time that if the 3-second clip of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan from Nayanthara’s documentary was not removed within 24 hours, then he would fight a legal battle. Now the judge postponed the decision on the petition filed by Netflix last week without giving any date. In this case, Judge Abdul Quddus ruled that Netflix, which had contracted to release the documentary, has no right to sue over copyright, and he dismissed Netflix’s case.
Dhanush had filed a case
Dhanush and his production house Wunderbar had filed a case against Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan. On which the court had also sought a response from Nayanthara. After which the actress said that she had sought permission from Dhanush to use the clip of the film, which she got. After which she used BTS footage, not the clip of the film. Taking action on this, Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara demanding 10 crores.
Naanum Rowdy Dhan is directed by Vignesh Shivan and produced by Dhanush’s Wunder Bar. Starring actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, the film was released in 2015. During the shooting of this film, Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara fell in love with each other. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan got married in 2022. After this, a documentary on Nayanthara’s life, ‘Nayanthara Beyond the Fairy Tale’ was released on Netflix’s OTT platform last year.
