Prayagraj. The Allahabad High Court has rejected the PIL seeking a CBI inquiry into the violence that erupted during the survey of Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid. This order has been given by a division bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Gautam Chaudhary.
During the hearing on Wednesday, Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal informed the division bench about the formation of a judicial commission under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge by the state government. On this, the court said that ‘the commission is investigating. If the petitioner wants, he can put his point on the appropriate forum.’ On this, the petitioner’s lawyer requested to withdraw the petition, which the court accepted and rejected the petition.
In the petition filed by Anand Prakash Tiwari of Varanasi, a demand was made to constitute an SIT under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge and issue a command to investigate the role of the local police-administration and the members of the Advocate Commissioner’s team in the violence and submit a report. It was also prayed that the role of the state government and administration in the violence be investigated by an independent investigation agency.
UP Police is going to start Operation ‘Trinetra’ in Sambhal
Now the Superintendent of Police has started preparing to lay a network of CCTV cameras in Sambhal on the model of Gorakhpur. In Sambhal district, a comprehensive CCTV camera network will be installed under Operation Trinetra to strengthen the security and surveillance system on the lines of Gorakhpur. Under this campaign, a large number of CCTV cameras will be installed at major intersections, public places, and border areas of the city.
The Superintendent of Police has prepared a blueprint of this plan and has written a letter to the DM requesting to implement the campaign at a fast pace. After this, the Chief Development Officer directed the District Panchayat Raj Officer to identify suitable places in all the Gram Panchayats and install cameras.
