Allahabad High Court has issued notice to Principal Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad on the contempt petition filed for not complying with the order to provide security to the sons who are witnesses of the murder of their father in Chaubepur police station area of Varanasi. Answer has been sought as to why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for disobeying the order. The next hearing of the petition will be on 9 January 2025.
This order has been given by Justice Salil Kumar Rai while hearing the contempt petition of Amarnath Choubey and another. The petitioner says that the father was murdered on 4 December 2015. Both the brothers are witnesses to this and their statement could not be recorded due to the trial not starting.
Allegation of MLA’s involvement in the murder
MLA Sushil Singh has been accused of being involved in this murder and security has been said to be a threat. The government withdrew the security of the petitioners on 18 March 2024. On which the High Court sought information from the government on the petition filed. During this, an order was given to provide security to the petitioners. This contempt petition has been filed for non-compliance of this.
PDA withdraws demolition action
The Prayagraj Development Authority has withdrawn the notice of demolition action of the house of Sonia Singh alias Dali Singh, a resident of Alopibagh area and many others. The Authority’s advocate Awadhesh Narayan Dubey gave this information during the hearing of the petition of Sonia Singh and seven others before the single bench of Justice Vikram D Chauhan in Allahabad High Court. The court has given them time to file an affidavit to withdraw the demolition order and has fixed November 21 for the next hearing on the petition.
