Rampur. In the case of enemy property in which Azam Khan was given a clean chit, the police has again made him and his son Abdullah accused after re-investigation.
The investigating officer had filed an application in the court to take the remand of father and son in this case, on which Azam Khan had filed an objection through his advocate. The court has rejected Azam Khan’s objection.
The matter of removing Azam Khan’s name from the case of fraud committed to usurp enemy property was in discussion recently. The government had ordered a high-level investigation against former SP Ashok Shukla.
Allegation of destroying enemy property
This case was registered by Assistant Record Keeper of Record Room Mohammad Farid at Civil Lines police station on May 9, 2020 against Syed Afaq Ahmed, resident of Pirpur House, Lucknow and unknown. It is alleged of destroying enemy property.
This enemy property was near Azam Khan’s Jauhar University, which was registered in the name of Imamuddin Qureshi, son of Badruddin Qureshi. Imamuddin Qureshi had left the country and gone to Pakistan at the time of partition. In the year 2006, this property was registered as enemy property.
On checking the land records, it was found that in order to destroy the enemy property by committing fraud in the records of the Revenue Department, the name of Afaq Ahmed was wrongly recorded in the revenue records. The pages of the record were found torn. The names of Azam Khan and his son Abdullah also came to light in this.
However, they were later given a clean chit.
Objection was raised on the application and demand was made to dismiss the remand
The matter reached the government, on which the investigation was conducted again. After the investigation, by making Azam Khan and his son accused, the investigation officer had given an application in the court for their custody remand. Azam Khan’s lawyer had raised objection on the application and demanded to dismiss the remand. The prosecution argued that there is sufficient evidence against both of them on the file, on the basis of which remand is justified.
The court has rejected the objection and considered Azam Khan and his son as accused. Now there will be a hearing against them in the enemy property case. October 15 has been fixed for this.
