Lucknow. The state government has appointed Babita Chauhan of Agra as the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission. Babita is currently the state vice-president of the BJP Mahila Morcha. Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Charu Chaudhary of Gorakhpur have been made vice-presidents of the Women’s Commission. Apart from this, 25 members have also been appointed in the commission. The tenure of all will be one year.
Before the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP made a dent in the Mulayam family and inducted Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of his younger son Prateek Yadav, into the party. The BJP had deployed her for campaigning especially in Yadav-dominated areas in the 2022 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now she has been made the vice-president of the Women’s Commission. At the same time, Charu Chaudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Gorakhpur mayor Manju Chaudhary.
Congress’s poster girl also became a member
In a notification issued by the Principal Secretary of Women Welfare Department, Leena Johri, Dr. Priyanka Maurya, Congress’s poster girl ‘Larki Hun Lad Sakti Hun…’ has been made a member of the Women’s Commission in the 2022 assembly elections. Apart from this, Himani Agarwal, Manisha Ahlawat and Meenakshi Bharala from Meerut, Sunita Srivastava from Ballia, Anju Prajapati, Ekta Singh and Ritu Shahi from Lucknow, Poonam Dwivedi and Anita Gupta from Kanpur, Anupama Singh Lodhi from Jhansi, Sujita Kumari from Lakhimpur Kheri, Meena Kumari from Aligarh, Neelam Prabhat from Mirzapur, Geeta Bind from Jaunpur, Geeta Vishwakarma from Prayagraj, Pushpa Pandey from Bareilly, Sunita Saini from Rampur, Archana Patel from Lalitpur, Janak Nandini from Sant Kabir Nagar, Pratibha Kushwaha from Kaushambi, Renu Gaur from Kasganj, Avni Singh and Sangeeta Jain from Bijnor and Sapna Kashyap from Saharanpur are included.
