Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath created a new record by hoisting the flag at the Vidhan Bhavan on Thursday. He has become the first Chief Minister of the state to hoist the flag for the eighth consecutive time at the Vidhan Bhavan.
Also became the Chief Minister with the longest tenure
Yogi became the Chief Minister for the first time on 19 March 2017. His first term ended on 12 March 2022. When the BJP got a majority in the 2022 elections, Yogi took over as the Chief Minister for the second consecutive time on 25 March 2022.
On Thursday, he not only created the record of hoisting the flag for the eighth consecutive time, but also became the Chief Minister with the longest tenure after independence. Both the tenures together became seven years and 148 days.
Mayawati has also hoisted the flag eight times
Former Chief Minister Mayawati’s tenure was seven years and 16 days in four terms. Mayawati has hoisted the flag eight times in her four terms. Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was the Chief Minister thrice, had a total tenure of six years, 274 days.
Sampurnanand, who was the Chief Minister twice, had a tenure of five years, 345 days and Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister for five years and four days in one term. Before Independence, Govind Ballabh Pant had the longest tenure as Chief Minister of eight years, 127 days.
