Indian wrestler Vinesh had appealed to CAS regarding this. Their decision was to come around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night. But now it will come on August 16.
Actually Vinesh had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for the silver medal. CAS heard the matter on August 9. During this, Indian Olympic Association’s senior lawyer Harish Salve represented Vinesh. Vinesh was disqualified due to overweight. Her weight was found to be 100 grams more. Now Vinesh is demanding a joint silver medal.
What was the whole matter regarding Vinesh’s weight –
Vinesh was fighting in the 50 kg category in Paris Olympics 2024. She had secured the silver medal with a strong performance. But she was disqualified before the gold medal match. Vinesh was just 100 grams overweight. She worked hard overnight to reduce her weight. She even got her hair cut. But still her weight was 100 grams overweight.

Vinesh defeated Cuban wrestler Guzman Lopez in the semi-finals. At the same time, she defeated Oksana Livach of Ukraine in the quarter-finals. Vinesh defeated Japan’s Susaki in the pre-quarterfinals. But she was disqualified before the gold medal match.
