Yamini Krishnamurthy was the queen of the dancing world. She had won many awards in traditional dancing like Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. Yamini was in ICU for 7 months
According to PTI report, Yamini Krishnamurthy breathed her last in Apollo Hospital on Saturday (August 3). She was 84 years old. In a statement issued by the manager, it is said that she was suffering from age-related diseases for a long time. She was admitted in the ICU for the last 7 months.
Yamini’s last rites will be performed here
Yamini’s body will be brought to her institute Yamini School of Dance at 9 am on Sunday. Here celebrities will be able to pay their last respects. Information about when her last rites will be performed is not yet known.
Yamini Krishnamurthy received the country’s highest honors
Born in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, Yamini Krishnamurthy was raised in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. Yamini started her career in dance in the year 1957. She was interested in dance since childhood. As soon as she started her career in dance, she became famous everywhere.
She was known as the ‘torch bearer’ in the Kuchipudi dance style. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan (2001) and Padma Vibhushan in 2016. She ran a dancing institute called Yamini School of Dance.
