A sensational case of murder and suicide has come to light in Lalganj Kotwali area of Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh. In Lodipur Utraw village of Kotwali area, a woman first strangled her son and daughter to death with a dupatta. Then she committed suicide by hanging herself. All three bodies were found lying in the same room. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, took the bodies in their custody and sent them for post-mortem and started investigation.
The case is of Pure Vijay Singh Majra Lodipur Utraw village of Lalganj Kotwali area. Ratipal Yadav lived in the village with his family. Ratipal did not have children from his first wife, so he got married for the second time. Both the wives lived together in the same house. On Sunday, the second wife Soni (35) was alone in the house. In the afternoon, Soni took both her children Raunak (5) and daughter Rimjhim (3) to the room and left.
Children strangled with dupatta
Soni first strangled both the children Raunak and Rimjhim to death with a dupatta. After that she herself committed suicide by hanging herself with the same dupatta. No one was in the house at the time of the incident. Husband Ratipal Yadav had gone to his sister’s village to drop her off. When he returned home, he saw that both the children were lying dead in the room. The wife’s body was hanging from the noose.

He was stunned to see the scene in the room and started screaming. Hearing the noise, people from the vicinity reached and informed the police about the incident. On receiving the information, the SP, ASP and the police team reached the spot. The police took the three bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem. Giving information about the incident, SP Abhishek Agarwal said that the police team is investigating the matter. Both the children were strangled to death. The woman’s body was hanging from the noose.

SP Abhishek Agarwal said that prima facie the case appears to be murder and suicide. According to husband Ratipal, no one was at home at the time of the incident. He had gone to his sister’s house to drop her off. The first wife was also not at home. In such a situation, it seems that the second wife must have first strangled the children and later hanged herself to death. However, the situation will become clear after the post-mortem report comes.
