Five members of a family drowned in the Ghaghra river in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Four people died in the accident. Police and divers reached the spot and pulled out all five from the river. A girl has been rescued. Her condition remains critical. The accident caused chaos in the area. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. After the accident, there was a lot of screaming among the family members.
All the members of the family had gone to take bath in the river. The deceased include a woman, a young man and two children. The injured girl has been admitted to the district hospital. She is undergoing treatment. On getting information about the incident, a large number of people gathered. Police reached the spot and rescued the people by calling divers.
The accident happened in Ghaghra river
The accident happened in Ghaghra river near village Bokariha of police station Padhua area of the district. Sushila Devi, wife of Brahmaprakash, resident of Mohalla Idgah, Lakhimpur, had come with her children to the house of Kotedar Brijendra Srivastava, resident of nearby village Teliyar. On Monday morning, Brijendra, Sushila Devi, Priya, Kanha and Naini reached the Ghaghra river near the neighbouring village Bokarhiya to take bath. Everyone was bathing in the river happily. Then suddenly while bathing, a child reached deep water and started drowning. To save him, everyone started diving into deep water.
Police and diving team arrived
Many more people were bathing in the river. Seeing them drowning, there was a commotion. People informed the police about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot. On getting the information about the accident, the relatives of the victims of the incident also gathered. The police called the divers and started searching for the drowned people. After a lot of searching, the divers took out all the five from the river. The police hurriedly took them to Ramiyabehad Community Health Center. There the doctor declared Sushila Devi, Satyam, Priya and Kanha dead. When Naini’s condition became serious in the accident, the doctor referred her to the district hospital in an unconscious state. There was crying and wailing among the family members after the accident.
