Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has changed the rules regarding marriage certificate. Now, while getting the marriage certificate made in the state, the bride and groom will also have to give details of dowry. An order in this regard has been issued by the government.
Under the new rules of marriage certificate, the bride and groom will have to give an affidavit detailing the details of the dowry (gift) taken along with the prior arrangement of marriage card, Aadhar card, high school mark sheet and documents of witnesses.
Additional Director General Registration Manindra Kumar Saxena has issued orders in this regard to all Assistant Inspectors General on May 17. In the order sent, citing the instructions of the High Court, it is expected to ensure strict compliance.
Let us tell you that till now only the documents of marriage card, Aadhaar card, high school marksheet along with two witnesses have been submitted to the Stamp and Registration Department from the bride and groom’s side. Along with this, the government has also made dowry affidavit mandatory. A notice for this has also been put up in the office.
