Kanpur. Another accident occurred in Maharajpur on Tuesday evening. Women and a girl crossing the highway near Hathipur turn were hit by an eco car. The collision was so strong that two women got trapped under the car and were dragged for about 30 meters, after which the car overturned. There were passengers sitting in it too.
The driver left the car and ran away. Four women, including a mother and daughter, died in the accident, while a young woman is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in an injured condition. After the accident, there was a jam on one lane of the highway.
Forces from several police stations including DCP East reached the spot and got the jam cleared. On Monday morning itself, an Ertiga car rammed into a small truck parked on the Kanpur-Prayagraj Highway, in which three occupants of the car, including a mother and son, were killed, while two including an innocent child were injured.
Women came to the highway to ride vehicles
On Tuesday morning, Poonam alias Pinky, wife of his brother-in-law, Vijay Pandey, resident of Shyam Nagar E Block, reached the house of Jitendra Dwivedi, a sandalwood flour mill operator living on the side of the highway near Hathipur Mod in Maharajpur, along with his married 23-year-old daughter Chanchal, resident of Neel Wali Gali, Biharana Road. Vijay’s other sister Jyoti alias Rupa also lived in Hathipur village. When she got information, she also came to meet Poonam. In the evening, Jitendra’s wife Sarita, his daughter Aparna and Jyoti had reached the highway to take the mother and daughter in the vehicle on the highway.
Everyone was crossing one lane of the highway as if they were crossing the other lane. Then a speeding Eeco car coming from Fatehpur hit him. When the driver ran away, two women got trapped under the car and were dragged for about 30 meters and overturned. After the accident the driver left the car and ran away.
DCP East along with Maharajpur, Narwal police station forces reached the spot. Police took all the injured to Kanshiram Hospital, where doctors declared Sarita, Chanchal, Poonam and Rupa dead, while Aparna was admitted to a private hospital in the city.
There has been a road accident in Maharajpur. In this, the van hit the women crossing the road. Four women have died, while the girl is undergoing treatment. Some passengers were also sitting in the van. They are also being informed. The driver is being traced on the basis of the car number.
