New Delhi. (UP Madarsa Board) During the hearing on Friday, the Supreme Court has stayed the decision of Allahabad High Court, declaring ‘Uttar Pradesh Board Madarsa Education Act 2004’ unconstitutional. The Supreme Court said- The conclusion of Allahabad High Court that the establishment of Madrasa Board is a violation of the principles of secularism.
The Supreme Court has issued notice on the appeals challenging the March 22 order of the Allahabad High Court.
The High Court had given its verdict on March 22
On March 22, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court had declared the UP Board of Madrasa Education Act 2004 unconstitutional. The Court has said that the said Act was violating the principles of secularism.
Along with this, the court ordered the state government to enroll the students studying in madrassas of the state in the formal education system. The order was passed by a division bench of Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi on the writ petition of Anshuman Singh Rathore.
16 thousand madrassas in UP
Let us tell you, there are about 16 thousand madrassas in UP, in which there are a total of 13.57 lakh students. Of the total madrassas, there are 560 subsidized madrassas, where 9,500 teachers are working. UP Minority Welfare Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said that the High Court’s decision has been challenged by Anjum Qadri, manager of Madarsa Azizia Ijajutul Uloom.
